New anti-spam measures for the forum [updated]

Postby Manipe on Tue Aug 25, 2009 4:03 pm

Manipe F1 is pleased to announce that it has implemented a number of anti-spam measures that should eliminate almost all spam topics from now on. Full details of the new measures will not be published in order to protect the system's security, but the vast majority of legitimate users will not be affected. Any legitimate new users who are affected will only be affected once, while existing active users will not be affected at all.

Manipe F1 would like to apologise for the delay taken in implementing these new measures, but it was necessary to take such time in order to cause as little disruption as possible for existing users, while also attempting to eliminate as much of the spam as possible.

We hope you find the Manipe F1 Forum to be a more welcoming experience as a result.

Regards,
The Manipe F1 Team.

Further to the above, I'm pleased to confirm that even more recent anti-spam measures are working a treat at the moment, as many of you have seen, and although it means any new users will have to have their first post validated by a moderator, it also means the likelihood of an further spam messages appearing is close to zero.

We hope to validate any user's first post within 10 hours, or less, given the time of day it is published. If your post is validated, you will be sent an email confirming this. While it may cause some annoyance to first-time users, we believe it is a small compromise to keep the forum entirely spam free.
