After reading a few more stories in the "Lotus" name saga, I spotted a passage that really jumped off the page at me.... It seems that Classic Team Lotus still does a fair amount of consulting work for Lotus Cars, so naturally Clive Chapman would come out in favor of the Lotus-Renault team instead of Tony Fernandez 1Malaysia Group.
Which is a far cry from his original endorsement of "Lotus Racing" when it started the 2010 season.... I wonder how Colin's widow feels about her son taking sides in the name row, or is she embarassed by Clive taking both sides of this issue in such a short period of time??

And for jimjones.... Merry Christmas! We don't hear anything from you for weeks or months and then you chime in with a joke like " Yup. Bahar and GL are 100% in the right." That just proves my theory that you really are a sicko.... Don't drink the Kool Aid, indeed.... What a terrible thing to say. Bahar couldn't be right on this even if the Proton Group had purchased the original Team Lotus itself.... Seriously, this whole Lotus/Team Lotus name business is freakin' ridiculous!!! And having "paid" the Chapman family for thier endorsement makes me believe American politics are actually honest!!!

I read the story about the Queen honoring Tony Fernandez with the award of a CBE for his efforts to bring Britain and Malaysia together in business and sport ventures during 2010. I would have to say this is quite a nice thing for Tony, and he certainly deserves some sort of recognition for starting a new F1 team from scratch and bringing the Lotus name back to F1 (even if Proton/Group Lotus don't like that he is now using "Team Lotus"....)
I wonder how this award will affect the outcome of the court case over the naming rights for the two Lotus-Renault squads we expect to see on the grid? Even though Clive Chapman and company have abandoned thier support of Tony (Proton/Group Lotus still being customers of Classic Team Lotus, after all), I have to wonder if receiving such a prestigeous award from the Queen might alter how the courts will look at this case??
Anyone from England have a view on this???
