Renault has secured its first sponsor since the infamous Crashgate saga came to a close earlier this month, with the news that watchmaker TW Steel has joined the team on a three-year sponsorship deal. Renault lost the backing of two major sponsors in the aftermath of Crashgate, with title sponsor ING and Mutua Matrilena both jumping ship. The TW Steel partnership will begin at this weekend's inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with the Dutch company's branding featured prominently on the car. Its logos will appear on the nose cone, front wing flaps and the leading edge of the sidepods. Logos will also appear on timing monitors and on team uniforms and drivers' suits from 2010. Jean-François Caubet, Renault (Managing Director): Jordy Cobelens, TW Steel (CEO): TW Steel was a major partner in the most recent season of A1 GP, although it is not certain if the Renault deal is a result of A1GP's expected demise. TW Steel also announced a new sponsorship deal with the Rally of Scotland earlier this month. | |||
