Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenberg will race for Williams as expected in 2010, the team announced on Monday morning. The news was revealed just days after Williams had confirmed it would race with Cosworth engines in 2010, marking a wholesale change in the team's structure. Rubens Barrichello has been linked to the Williams seat since mid-season, and comes to the Grove-based team off the back of a championship-challenging season in 2009. With 284 race starts, he is the most experienced Formula One driver in history, and has 11 victories to his name, along with 14 pole positions. Team-mate Hülkenberg boasts a similarly impressive CV in junior categories, which includes championship successes in German Formula BMW, A1 GP and F3 Euroseries. He then became the first driver in GP2 history to wrap up the crown with one race weekend remaining, and doing so in his rookie season to add to the feat. In December 2007 he got his first taste of F1 in a Williams, before being signed as he team's test and reserve driver in 2008. “Rubens needs no introduction. He is not only the most experienced driver in Formula One, but a passionate and talented driver who fought hard for the Drivers' Championship this year,” began team principal Frank Williams. “Nico Hülkenberg won the GP2 Championship this season as a rookie and has previously won the F3 Euroseries, Formula Masters, A1 GP and Formula BMW Germany.” Although Nico Rosberg is expected to wind up at Brawn in 2010 alongside champion Jenson Button, team-mate Kazuki Nakajima's future is much less certain. Having performed poorly against Rosberg in his two seasons to date, the Japanese driver faces an uncertain few weeks ahead with few options open for a 2010 race seat. “Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima remain our drivers until the end of 2009 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their contribution to the team,” continued Frank. “Nico and Kazuki have represented AT&T Williams and our partners with dedication, discipline and skill and we wish them every success with their future endeavours.” Williams' announcement brings to 9 the number of confirmed seats on the 2010 grid.
