The one and only post-season test kicked off this morning in Jerez, southern Spain, with the first of three days of action. The test is limited to drivers with less than three F1 races' experience, and with the in-season testing ban having kicked in from this year, offers teams the first and only chance to test out young blood. A total of nine teams are present in Jerez for the test, with Toyota's withdrawal ruling them out. The weather for the coming days is expected to be showery at times, but mostly dry. World champions Brawn/Mercedes GP will have Mike Conway and Marcus Ericsson in action all week, with Coway testing every morning and Ericsson testing every afternoon. Over at Red Bull, Daniel Ricciardo tests for all three days, while McLaren will have their track time split between test driver Gary Paffett and F1 test debutant Oliver Turvey. Ferrari has F3 Euroseries champion Jules Bianchi in the F60 for the first two days, before the top three finishers of the Italian F3 series take over, sharing the cockpit for day 3. Daniel Zampieri, Marco Zipoli and Pablo Sánchez López will all get their first taste of F1 machinary. Despite withdrawing from Formula One earlier this year, BMW Sauber will follow through a commitment to test young drivers Alexander Rossi and Esteban Gutierrez as prizes for winning their regional Formula BMW championship. Rossi is expected to test today, followed by Guierrez on Wednesday. Williams will give F2 champion Andy Soucek his first taste of F1 when he gets behind the wheel of the FW31 today, before handing over to 2010 race driver Nico Hülkenberg for the remainder of the test. Meanwhile at Renault, Formula Renault champion Bertrand Baguette will taste F1 power for the first time, with Chinese driver Ho-Pin Tung also getting a run-out, alongside regular test driver Lucas Di Grassi. Completing the driver line-up are JR Hildebrand and Paul Di Resta at Force India and Brendon Hartley and Mirko Bortolotti at Toro Rosso, with this also being Hildebrand's debut test. Manipe F1 will keep you up to date with all the latest news from Jerez as the test progresses, along with the usual end-of-day report and fastest laptimes. | |||
