Giancarlo Fisichella will turn his hand to the Le Mans Series this year, ending hopes that the Italian will secure a race drive in Formula One for 2010. Fisichella, who is Ferrari's official reserve driver, was hopeful of racing in F1 alongside his Ferrari commitments, but with just two seats remaining on this year's grid the Italian has confirmed a move to LMS.

The news was confirmed by the Le Mans Series on Monday, although it has not yet been confirmed with whom he will be racing. Ferrar, however, runs teams in the GT2 category.

Fisichella will race at all five events in 2010, taking in Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps, Portimão, the Hungaroring and Silverstone between March and September.
