With the announcement that Toyota were going to be supplying engines to Williams, Manipe F1 can reveal that Lexus, Toyota's luxury car brand, will not make any appearance in Formula One, yet. The long-running speculation linking Williams with Toyota engines always assumed that the engines planted in the back of the Williams racer would be re-badged as Lexus, as Toyota strive to give the brand a more global audience.
The thinking would also diminish the blow if Williams were to out-perform Toyota, a likely occurance, with many unfamiliar with the sport naturally thinking that the Toyota and Lexus engines were different.
A spokesperson told Manipe F1, though, that “Toyota identity will be visible on the Williams cars with the logos "Powered by Toyota",” identical to what is currently visible on Toyota's current engine supplyees, Midland F1. But the spokesperon confirmed that Lexus would not be appearing in F1, saying “There is no plan to associate the Lexus brand to F1”.
It has also been confirmed that Williams will keep their current Formula One entry name, as "WilliamsF1 Team".
