Mon, 5 January, 2009Red Bull to launch RB5 on February 9

Red Bull's RB5 will be unveiled at Jerez on Monday 9 February the team has confirmed becoming the sixth team to confirm their launch plans. Toyota, McLaren, Renault, Williams and BMW, have already announced their launch dates, but at February 9th, Red Bull's is the latest scheduled thus far.

In announcing the launch date, Red Bull's Team Principal Christian Horner explained the later-than-usual unveiling. “Our strategic plan has always been to take full advantage of the later start to the 2009 season and we are using the time to ensure we have optimised the car as much as possible, within the regluation changes, to start on the grid in Melbourne.”

Webber is expected to return to the cockpit of the F1 racer for the first time since November, after breaking his leg in a cycling accident during his Tasmania challenge event. Sebastian Vettel is most likely to give the car its maiden run, however.

It has not yet been announced when Toro Rosso will test their STR4 for the first time, which will be a replica of the RB5, continuing the recent arrangement.
