Former F1 driver Martin Brundle has announced that he is to step away from his driver management responsibilities in order to fully focus on his career as a television commentator and his son's fledgling racing career. Brundle, who worked alongside former Brabham and Ligier team-mate Mark Blundell at 2MB Sports Management, now hands full ownership and control of the company over to Blundell, who will continue with the business. While Brundle has been selected to move to the BBC for 2009, as the British F1 tv rights switches from ITV, Blundell has not been retained, having worked alongside Martin at ITV. 2MB manages drivers such as Gary Paffett, Mike Conway and young karting sensation Will Stevens, with Blundell now assuming sole management responsibility. “As I move to the BBC for 2009 and beyond, it is the right moment to review my future plans,” said Brundle. “I have decided to step back from all driver management in order to focus fully on my own career, and that of my son, Alex, who competes in F2 this year.” Brundle will be joined by fellow F1 veteran David Coulthard at the BBC in 2009, with former Jordan Team Principal Eddie Jordan further bolstering the broadcaster's line-up. | |||
