Sat, 10 January, 2009The 2009 car launch schedule

The 2009 car launch season is just days away, with Ferrari due to unveil their championship contender in two day's time. Despite that, just seven teams have confirmed their 2009 launch dates, as many aim to take advantage of the latest start to an F1 season since 1988.

Toro Rosso have not yet announced their plans for the launch of their STR4, although it's certain the car won't appear before mid-February. Force India meanwhile are unlikely to test their 2009 car until March, less than a month before the start of the season, due to a late switch of engine manufacturer, from Ferrari to Mercedes. Finally, Honda will have to wait until a buyer for their team is secured before considering plans for a roll-out. Even then, the car's first outing may be delayed until Friday practice of the opening Grand Prix.

Here is a list of the confirmed 2009 car launch dates:
Ferrari: 12 January (Mugello, Italy)
Toyota: 15 January (Internet)
McLaren: 16 January (Woking, England)
Renault: 19 January (Portimão, Portugal)
Williams: 19 January (Portimão, Portugal)
BMW Sauber: 20 January (Cheste, Valencia, Spain)
Red Bull: 9 February (Jerez, Spain)
