The FIA this afternoon published the finalised entry list for the 2009 Formula One World Championship. Although largely unchanged from the list published mid-January, the revised edition takes recent changes into account. The first of those changes is the demotion of Brawn GP to the back of the field. Although under the Honda name the team would have been second-last in the list, ahead of Force India, the FIA recognised the team as a new entrant to the championship, and have therefore sent the team behind Force India in the entry list. Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will therefore race with numbers 20 and 21 on their cars this year, while the team will occupy the final pit garage at the season's 17 races. Force India's driver pairing of Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella will race with numbers 18 and 19. Elsewhere in the field, the FIA confirmed the number changing at Ferrari, with Felipe Massa now confirmed at number 3 and Kimi Räikkönen at number 4. The original list had the drivers in reverse order, but it's understood that Massa finishing ahead of Räikkönen in the 2008 championship prompted the change. Meanwhile at Toro Rosso, Sébastien Bourdais and Sébastien Buemi have also swapped numbers, with the pair due to race with numbers 11 and 12 respectively. The full line-up of 2009 drivers and teams can be found at the 2009 line-up page. | |||
