The FIA will unveil details of its plans for an F1 budget cap later today, after finalising its proposals at a World Motor Sport Council meeting yesterday in Paris. Speaking to reporters following the meeting, FIA President Max Mosley refused to give any firm details on the plans, he did reveal that the final cap figure will be a 'little bit more' than the original £30m put forward in March. “Everything is going ahead as planned,” Mosley told reporters after yesterday's meeting. “It's a little bit more than 30 million but we have been successful.” As a result of the budget cap, which will see the capped teams offered greater technical freedom compared to the unlimited expenditure teams, F1 is due to welcome an influx of as many as three new teams for 2010, while some of the existing 10 teams are reportedly interested in availing of the budget cap option. USF1, Prodrive/Aston Martin, Lola and iSport have all been linked to entering the sport. Manipe F1 will publish the full details of the budget cap proposals once they come to hand. | |||
